Livestock and Rodeo Student Art Show & Contest:

  • Each year,the Hallet Oak Gallery, located at 115 N. Main St. in Hallettsville, sponsors a contest annually for students who participate in the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Student Art Show. The Hallet Oak Gallery contest rewards students for their talent and gives the community the opportunity to view the student’s artworks.  Awards are presented on the First of Day of Spring. For schools to participate contact the Hallet Oak Gallery by email venue@halletoakgallery.com or leave a voice message at 361-217-7030.     Summer Art Contest: June 1st through July 30th,Hallet Oak Gallery offers an art contest for those who wanted to use their talents during the summertime pandemic.  Artists of all ages are asked to show, through their art, what they did during that time.  Winners are based on originality, interest appeal, technique, and use of color, balance, and harmony. Deadline is July 30, 2022. Include your full name and age. Prizes and certificates will be provided by sponsors.

  • June 1st through July 30th,Hallet Oak Gallery offers an art contest for those who wanted to use their talents during the summertime pandemic.  Artists of all ages are asked to show, through their art, what they did during that time.  Winners are based on originality, interest appeal, technique, and use of color, balance, and harmony. You and Your Waterways Art:

  • Sept. 1st through Nov. 12th, choose an animal, fish, or insect that lives in or around the Lavaca River in Hallettsville, or a waterway near you.  Draw your subject in its natural habitat showing native plants.  Include a jpeg of a note written on an index card that shares your poetry/short story that inspires your art.  Video: Make a video about the Lavaca River or a waterway near you on native plants and their usefulness to wildlife.  Upload 60 seconds or longer to Facebook or YouTube or other method. This can be images with words. It is up to you. Entering is easy. Send jpeg of art or video link to venue@halletoakgallery.com by Saturday, 12th, 2022.  Include your full name, age, and student’s include grade and school.  Prizes and awards will be provided by sponsors.International Art Contest: Sept. 1st through Nov. 12th,all entrants have a choice of painting a piece of art depicting another culture and include short description. Entering is easy.  Take a picture of your artwork or your poem that can fit on an index card or longer, and email it to venue@halletoakgallery.com by Saturday, November 12,2022.  Include your full name, school, grade and age, if applies.  Prizes and awards will be provided by sponsors.

Season Changes Art & Writing Contest:

  • Sept. 1st through Nov. 12th, show & tell what or where nature makes you happy.  Consider trees, water, wild life, and healthy activities that you enjoy during the season changes.  Any media or writing style can be used. Entering is easy. Take a photo of your artwork and email it by November 12, 2022 to venue@halletoakgallery.com. Include your full name, school, grade and age, if applies.  Prizes and awards will be provided by sponsors.
