DESCRIPTION:Buy a ticket to support the Hallet Oak Gallery’s many free events and scholarships! The Hallet Oak Gallery stays open six days a week and has no entry fees unless we have a a planned program that requires a nominal fee or if we have a sublease private event. \nMany of our events are free and open to the public. The Gallery is part of the Hallet Oak Foundation which is a public charity for the arts and is a 501 (3) C non-profit.  We do not have paid staff and are all volunteers. Our donations go towards scholarships\, guest speakers\, art teachers\, musicians\, art supplies\, as well as\, to  pay for our air conditioning\, phone\, wi-fi and security and many other operation expenses\, such advertising for our events. A free opening reception will be held from 2 PM to 4PM. The student art exhibit will be on display through August 25\, 2018. \n  \nSatori Davis\, a black American and 2018 graduate of Hallettsville High School\, promises to dazzle audiences with her artistic diverse style of realism and pop art. Her art teacher\, Staci Powers\, explains\, “Satori is an outstanding and hardworking student\, I look forward to her future.” \n  \nSatori uses real objects\, people\, and animals for subjects to create one-of-a-kind artworks. A true naturalist\, she loves to draw things as they are in real life making her work very life-like. Winning Best-of-Show twice in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Contest gave her a scholarship opportunity to attend the Glassell School of Art.  Satori\, also\, won the Patriotic Art Award through the Lavaca Memorial VFW Auxiliary #6382 three times; she won the 2017 Hallet Oak Gallery’s Christmas Art Contest; a 2017 South Central Texas Art League scholarship to attend a portrait workshop; and a 2018 Hallet Oak Foundation scholarship.

SUMMARY:Beautification Day - Saturday\, February 17\, 2018
DESCRIPTION:Beautification Day is set for Saturday\, February 17\, 2018\, 8 AM to 9:30 AM. Individuals and families will be meeting at 8 AM at the Hallet Oak Gallery to divide into teams. One team will start at 8:30 AM on the north side of Brookshire Brothers (Hallettsville\, TX).  The teams are picking up trash on “private easement with permission” for one hour. The objective is to remove trash that is embedded in dirt and fence. \n“The public is welcomed to participate and receive community service certificates. Come dressed to work\, bring gloves and tools” says Mieko Mahi\, a community development volunteer for Friends of Hallettsville Downtown Revitalization. “Friends” is which is part of the Hallet Oak Foundation\, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit charitable organization. \nTo get involved with working together for the community\, join in on Beautification Day.   Volunteers that attend this event will receive a fountain drink coupon donated by Morton’s Drive-In and Diane’s Diner. The coupons are only handed out by the leaders of “Friends of Hallettsville” group.  Requirements are to wear gloves\, eye-protection\, such as sunglasses or safety glasses\, hat\, and long pants\, work-shoes or boots that can get dirty. Teens are welcome\, small children may “watch” and “help” if guided by a parent. If you can’t attend\, please sign up for our “Friends of Hallettsville” group for our next Beautification Day at venue@halletoakgallery.com or call 361-217-7030. “These “Beautification Days” are going to have multiple benefits – to meet new people and to see the difference before and after! By working together as teams – we can create synergy for enjoying being outside and working together for our community”\, says Mahi. \n

DESCRIPTION:Michael Windberg is a master painter teaching his own oil painting workshops — to any level of artist willing to learn how to paint realism or impressionistic painting. \nMichael will provide a list of supplies needed and walk-ins are welcomed. $30 per class unless signed up for monthly classes\, then it’s $25 per class. Most artist paint every week to develop their talents and to develop their own style of painting. DESCRIPTION:Spooktacular Afternoon Party and Pumpkin Contest \nHallet Oak Gallery Pumpkin Contest and Open House:  \n “Spooktacular Afternoon Party” \n Saturday\, October 21\, 2017\, 4:30 pm – 6 pm. \n  \nPlease join in on the family Pumpkin Contest by dropping off decorated\, painted or carved pumpkins at the Hallet Oak Gallery on Friday\, October 20\, 2017 between 4:30 and 6 p.m.  Winners will be announced on Saturday\, October 21\, 2017 at 5:30 pm.   All ages are welcome. There will be prizes! \nJoin the artists for thrills and chills at the Hallet Oak Gallery “Spooktacular Afternoon Party.”   Door prizes! Eat Screaming Hotdogs\, Dress up in your silliest costume and come trick or treat with us at 7 different candy stations.  Take a photo with some special guests with your smart phone\, take a crawl through the haunted tunnel decorated by Sacred Heart Catholic School art students\, visit an artist or two\, and more. Bob Weiss\, a Gallery supporter and volunteer\, constructs the tunnel using large-sized boxes from Ehler’s Furniture store. Designs by Donna donates the creative hand-made prizes. Sweets are prepared and donated by Gwen Bundy and Linda Cejka. \n  \nVoting will begin when the doors open at 9:00 a.m. the day of the party and winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m.  It will be a hauntingly good time! \n  \nKid Monsters  Ages 6 yrs – 11 yrs –3 places – scariest\, cutest\, most creative pumpkin \n  \nTeen Monsters Ages 12 to 14–3 places – scariest\, cutest\, most creative pumpkin \n  \nAdult Monsters 15 & up–3 places – scariest\, cutest\, most creative pumpkin \n  \nAll Around Favorite Pumpkin –People’s choice \n  \nAll divisions will receive gag prizes except All Around Favorite – which will receive a $50 cash prize. \n  \nRules for carved pumpkins: Opening must be on the bottom.  Only battery-operated lights may be used. The Hallet Oak Halloween Haunted Tunnel will be open during the party\, as well as on Halloween night\, October 31\, from 5 to 9 p.m.\, both days are open free to the public. \n  \nDon’t forget to drop off your pumpkins at the Gallery between 4:30 pm and 6:00pm on Friday\, Oct. 20 2017. Voting will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday\, October 21\, 2017 when HOG opens and continue until 5:20 p.m.   Prizes will be given out at 5:30 p.m. Costumes are encouraged! DESCRIPTION:Oct 20: Friday Pumpkin Drop off 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. You may\, also\, drop off during regular open hours or the following Saturday morning\, voting begins at 9:00 a.m.\n\nHallet Oak Gallery Pumpkin Contest and Open House:  \n “Spooktacular Afternoon Party” \n Saturday\, October 21\, 2017\, 4:30 pm – 6 pm. \n  \nPlease join in on the family Pumpkin Contest by dropping off decorated\, painted or carved pumpkins at the Hallet Oak Gallery on Friday\, October 20\, 2017 between 4:30 and 6 p.m.  Winners will be announced on Saturday\, October 21\, 2017 at 5:30 pm.   All ages are welcome. There will be prizes! \nJoin the artists for thrills and chills at the Hallet Oak Gallery “Spooktacular Afternoon Party.”   Door prizes! Eat Screaming Hotdogs\, Dress up in your silliest costume and come trick or treat with us at 7 different candy stations.  Take a photo with some special guests with your smart phone\, take a crawl through the haunted tunnel decorated by Sacred Heart Catholic School art students\, visit an artist or two\, and more. Bob Weiss\, a Gallery supporter and volunteer\, constructs the tunnel using large-sized boxes from Ehler’s Furniture store. Designs by Donna donates the creative hand-made prizes. Sweets are prepared and donated by Gwen Bundy and Linda Cejka. \n  \nVoting will begin when the doors open at 9:00 a.m. the day of the party and winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m.  It will be a hauntingly good time! \n  \nKid Monsters  Ages 6 yrs – 11 yrs –3 places – scariest\, cutest\, most creative pumpkin \n  \nTeen Monsters Ages 12 to 14–3 places – scariest\, cutest\, most creative pumpkin \n  \nAdult Monsters 15 & up–3 places – scariest\, cutest\, most creative pumpkin \n  \nAll Around Favorite Pumpkin –People’s choice \n  \nAll divisions will receive gag prizes except All Around Favorite – which will receive a $50 cash prize. \n  \nRules for carved pumpkins: Opening must be on the bottom.  Only battery-operated lights may be used. No candles allowed! \n  \nPumpkins will be voted by the public.  The pumpkins will be numbered and votes cast.
