DESCRIPTION:EVERY SATURDAY!\nMEET THE ARTIST FOR COFFEE\n9:00 am – noon    \nSaturday Mornings\, Meet the Artist for Coffee 10 AM to noon \nSaturday is bustling with artists and tourists stopping in to see what the gallery is all about.  Hot fresh brewed free coffee and pastries are on hand.  Artisans and artists display and show their latest works as walk-ins or sublease a display table if they have lots to share. \nThe gallery supports 16 local artists\, five international artists and four Houstonian artists:   Artworks presently on display are by Bob Barrera\, acrylic paintings;  Steve Beckman\, watercolors; Larry Charles\, Al Eisenberg\, acrylic paintings; watercolors; Gene Grant\, pencil sketches; Larry Bozka\, wildlife photographer; Blanche Cavarretta\, gourd artist; Roy Cavarretta\, pen and ink reproductions as well as carved gourd art; Gisela Floto\, contemporary photography; Cherri Fryer\, pottery; Alberto Godoy\, oil paintings; Art Juarez\, historical photography; Ofi Juarez\, historical photography; Valentia Kisseleva\, pen and ink; Yan Lee\, pen and ink reproductions; Mieko Mahi\, industrial art; Marcus Mann\, oil painting and reproductions; Michael Moore\, fused-glass art and jewelry; Hege Nolop\, jewelry; Chu Okoli\, oil paintings; Elizabeth Payne\, acrylic paintings; James Phillips\, wood sculptor; Danny Stephens\, bronze sculptor; Alice Vickers\, acrylic paintings;  and Michael Windberg\, oil paintings. All works are for sale.\nThe gallery’s home is the historic Kahn and Stanzel building in downtown Hallettsville. DESCRIPTION:ENERGY INK PRESENTS LUNCH AND LEARN\nHallet Oak Gallery\nFebruary 20\, 2016  11:30 AM – 1:00 PM \n“How to be a Freelance Writer” will be the topic for Saturday\, February 20\, ”Lunch & Learn” at the Hallet Oak Gallery.  The presenter is Jeannie Stell\, founder and president of Energy Ink\, a partnership of writers\, editors\, editors\, graphic artists and website developers who provide outsourced media products and services.  With 25 years of experience as a writer and editor\, Stell will discuss how writers can specialize in a market sector\, find clients\, and process articles and press releases.  She will make suggestions on freelance writing rates.  She will entertain questions from both freelance writers and those who want to become freelance writers who want to learn the “tricks of the trade.” \nRegistration for the “Lunch and Learn” is 11:00-11:30 AM on Saturday\, February 20th.  The fee of $20 includes a boxed lunch.  Persons may preregister by February 18th for $15 for individual tickets or $12 each for two or more tickets. Persons registering after 11:30 are welcome but must bring their own lunch\, and the fee is $20. DESCRIPTION:SPOTLIGHT ON THE ARTS\nLARRY CHARLES\, WATERCOLOR ARTIST\nOPENING RECEPTION:  FEBRUARY 6\, 2016\, 2 – 4 PM \nOPEN TO THE PUBLIC:  NO ADMISSION FEE \nLocal watercolor artist Larry Charles\, will be under the “Spotlight on the Arts” at the Hallet Oak Gallery in February.  The exhibit will open at 2 PM on February 6 and continue throughout the month.  Charles\, who draws inspiration from artists as disparate as Georgia O’Keefe\, Norman Rockwell and Vincent Van Gogh\, will be at the Gallery to visit with the public and share the stories behind his work. \nInspired also by the gifts of nature around him\, Larry brings those gifts to his paintings in vivid color.  He does not consider his renditions of pears or watermelon or bluebonnets as “still life\,”  but strives to make them “fully alive.” Developed over 25 years\, his work reflects the time he spends studying and understanding his subjects.   \nLarry Charles is an award-winning artist with paintings in homes throughout the U.S.\, Canada\, and Bulgaria.  A native Coloradan who married a fifth generation Texan\, he now lives in Lavaca County.  Whether depicting watermelons\, longhorn steer skulls or Indian Blankets\, he brings fresh interpretation to the flora and fauna of rural Texas and the Texas Gulf Coast as well as that of the Colorado Rockies.   \nThe Gallery will serve wine and cheese from 2-4 PM for the Spotlight opening.
