His featured guest will be nationally acclaimed Americana songwriter Mark Jungers. The two will be performing original songs and telling the stories behind them. An interview with Jungers followed by questions and answers will give participants a chance to learn about the music that they are enjoying. The series will be held every 2nd Monday and will feature a different artist each month. \nMark Jungers got his start in the mid 80’s music scene in Austin. His group\, Motel Preachers\, was honored as Best New Band and second place\, Best Country Band\, in New Haven\, Connecticut in the 90’s. He and his current group\, The Whistling Mules\, have released three successful CDs: Black Limousine\, Standing in Your Way\, One For the Crow. Jungers has shared the stage with a variety of popular groups\, including Billy Joe Shaver\, The Derailers\, Gary P. Nunn\, Slaid Cleaves\, Slobberbone\, Sisters Morales\, Roger Creager\, Trout Fishing in America\, Charlie Robison\, and Cooder Graw. \nJD Wellfed started writing poems in junior high and writing songs in his early twenties. He draws inspiration from “anything and everything.” His songs are simple\, of the countryside\, and built on folk\, bluegrass\, and a plethora of influences. His music creates a personal universe with a tragicomic angle on life. JD was also the founder of the Sweet Home Music Fest. Featured guests are Joe Kirkpatrick and Michael Stroup. Known locally for their Americana music\, Kirkpatrick and Stroup are big city favorites. The trio will perform original songs and tell the stories behind them. They will welcome questions and share insights about their music. \nJoe Kirkpatrick plays lead guitar and sings. Michael Stroup’s love for traditional American music began early\, learning guitar as he watched two uncles play. Specializing in folk\, bluegrass\, and class country music\, Stroup now incorporates western swing and old cowboy music in his repertoire. \nJD Wellfed began writing poems in junior high and songs in his early twenties. “Anything and everything” inspires his music\, which draws on folk\, bluegrass\, and a plethora of other influences. JD founded the Sweet Home Music Fest\, which gave artists a platform for original music while raising funds for several community causes. \nMusic Night at the HOG is held every 2nd Monday of the month. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Bring your own drinks. Ice and cups provided. He has assisted his father\, Dalhart Windberg\, master painter of light\, color\, and shadow\, and author of “Windberg Oil Painting Technique\,” for 25 years. Michael is also skilled in restoration of valuable works. Michael teaches a “Come and Go” painting class at the Gallery on Tuesday evenings 6 – 9 pm. \nRegistration for the “Lunch and Learn” is 11:00-11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The fee of $20 includes a boxed lunch. Persons may preregister by November 12th for $15 for individual tickets or $12 each for two or more tickets.
