SUMMARY:Juneteenth Celebration: Moses Adams\, Gene Grant\, Earl Jones\, & Ameera York
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, June 19\, 2019 \nOpen House Juneteenth Celebration 7 – 9 PM \nFeaturing Four Black Artists \nMoses Adams\, Master Painter Mixed-Media Artist; Gene Grant\, Realism Oil Painter; Earl Jones\, Sculptor/Painter and Ameera York\, Gospel/Pop Recording Artist \nDinner appetizers will be served. Free and open to the public. \nExhibit ends June 29th. \nHallet Oak Gallery\, 115 N. Main St.\, Hallettsville\, TX 77964 – 361-217-7030 www.halletoakgallery.com \nAbout Gene Grant\, Realism Oil Painter\, Hallettsville\, TX: Gene Grant’s work is inspired by Boris Vallejo\, a Peruvian painter whose work has graced the covers of science fiction paperbacks. Most recently\, he has been influenced by painter\, Michael Windberg. Gene Grant enjoys and challenges himself in capturing facial features\, especially the eyes. He is available for commissioned works. Gene’s art elevates awareness of the Black community’s past and present. His new work encourages young people to follow a path. “This can be done”\, Gene says\, “By being more visible. Black people need to be seen out in the open doing great things within their community. Many have all along through the ages\, perhaps not so visible.” He shares the beauty of being born black in his artworks. \nAbout Earl Jones\, Wood Sculptor/Painter\, Galveston\, TX: Earl Jones has a heart-felt connection with art and has an ability to sculpt\, draw\, and paint to fulfill the imagination of his clients. Earl has a Fine Arts degree from Texas Southern University. His thumbprint is to share with the world\, a visual masterpiece that brings out inner joy and peace. He hopes is to stimulate each onlooker to write his or her own story and elicit his or her own interpretation. Earl Jones carvings can be seen throughout Texas\, including a tribute to Cadets at Texas A & M University (Marine Science) in Galveston. An art virtuoso\, Earl studied and was influenced by legendary fine artists; among them was famed artist John Biggers and Carroll Simms. \nAbout Moses Adams\, Jr.\, Master Painter and Mixed-Media Artist\, Houston\, TX: Moses Adams Jr. was born in Hallettsville and attended Texas Southern University for his Art Education degree. He served in the U.S. Army and taught art. He is currently devoting his time to create a personal retrospect of rural life during segregation. “He enjoys painting scenes from Texas that disappeared long ago.” recalls\, Harley Fisk\, Operations Manager at Hallet Oak Gallery. Harley says “Moses’ has a distinct style. He experienced segregation and is now able to paint those memories. The youths ahead\, will only hear stories. Moses art is irreplaceable.” An art collector\, Doris Zumwalt explains\, “It’s not just a scene\, it’s the love Adams has for the people he’s painting and that appeals to me. “. \nAbout Ameera York\, Gospel Pop Recording Artist\, Hallettsville\, TX: \nAmeera York\, grew up in Hallettsville singing in churches. Her gospel music emits pop and urban overtones and she now ministers to the world conveying the love of Christ. Growing up with her mother always preaching Jesus and leading youth conferences gave Ameera a strong foundational background. Ameera has been singing the majority of her life\, but began ‘rapping’ on her step-father’s recordings with her three brothers. Her commitment is first to the Lord and her heart is to simply be a vessel for God’s use – to heal\, bring joy and help others see their purpose in the Lord’s plan. \n The Hallet Oak Gallery is hosting a reception and Juneteenth Celebration featuring four black artists titled: “Retrospect of Freedom” and will be held on Wednesday\, June 19\, 2019\, from 7:00 PM till 9 PM. The Gallery invites everyone to join in celebrating Black History and honoring these Hallettsville natives.   The Hallet Oak Gallery\, a 501 c 3 non-profit fine art\, performance and learning center\, is located at 115 N. Main St\, Hallettsville\, TX\, 77964. SUMMARY:First Day of Spring Chalk Art Show with participating schools. Docents: Linda Cejka\, Georgia Pohl\, M. Mahi\, A. Riske.
DESCRIPTION:  \nGeorgia Pohl\, art instructor\, is offering suggestion on the street drawing and design. \nFirst day of spring celebration at Hallet Oak Gallery on March 20\, 2017. Featuring chalk art with Sacred Heart Catholic School visiting and special performer\, Chis Rybak\, country polka singer.\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nFirst Day of Spring Downtown Hallettsville Chalk Art Celebration\, \nArt Sale and Membership Drive \nOutdoor Guest Performance by Chris Rybak \nDowntown – Free \n  \nOn the first day of Spring\, Tuesday\, March 20\, 2018\, the Hallet Oak Gallery is hosting a 2018 Spring Chalk Art Celebration and Membership Drive inviting schools and families to chalk the parking space in front of Hallet Oak Gallery from 2 pm to 6 pm. Chris Rybak will provide an outdoor guest performance with polka/country live music from 5p-6p. Refreshments will be served inside the Gallery. Admission is free and open to the public. \n  \nWe are excited about this event and need the schools to contact the Gallery\, so we know how much chalk and refreshments to provide. Chris Rybak fans can sign-up for a “flash dance” performance on the street\, which will include the “Country Line Dance\, Chicken Dance” and the The Wave. \n  \nThe faded yellow driveway space in front of the Gallery\, located in the famed Kahn & Stanzel building\, will be transformed into a pastel colored pathway. Elementary\, middle\, and High School students\, as well as families and professional artists are invited to join together to create a temporary masterpiece. \n  \nAs a non-profit\, our motivation is to support the artist and serve the community. But of course we still have expenses to maintain the building and hold events so we have to charge nominal fees sometimes\, and we want to do more marketing to support the artists so they can keep doing their work. For this Spring Celebration we’d like to keep it as a free admission to enjoy the live music and see the artworks. Membership to the Gallery helps with some of the operation costs\, and it shows support to our volunteers\, as does buying the artworks shows support to the artist”\, explains Mieko Mahi\, Executive Director of Hallet Oak Gallery. \nSchools and large groups please RSVP: 361-217-7030. Hallet Oak Foundation is a 501 c 3\, the parent company of Hallet Oak Gallery and Friends of Hallettsville Downtown Revitalization. Hallet Oak Gallery is a fine art\, performance\, and learning center. See www.halletoakgallery.com and www.halletoakfoundation to learn more about the mission of the non-profit. \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n More\n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print

SUMMARY:2nd Monday Night Music at the HOG featuring Libby Koch and Chuck Hawthorne\, Americana/Alternative Country
DESCRIPTION:2nd Monday Night Music at the HOG featuring Libby Koch and Chuck Hawthorne\, Americana/Alternative Country \nMay 8 @ 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. \nTickets are $15. $12.50 for advance ticket purchase. BYOB. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. \nHallet Oak Gallery\, a one-stop arts center\, featured guests are Chuck Hawthorne\, a veteran with 21 years of military service and Libby Koch. Known for her true country voice. \nChuck Hawthorne developed his voice in Texas and on board the USS Iwo Jima. He sings about people he knew in his hometown\, on numerous deployments\, and many points in between. \nLibby Koch’s Americana sound blends the songwriting soul of classic country music with gospel roots\, a rock edge\, and the storytelling sensibility of a Texas folk troubadour. SUMMARY:First Day of Spring Downtown Hallettsville Chalk Art Celebration
DESCRIPTION:First Day of Spring Downtown Hallettsville Chalk Art Celebration\, \nArt Sale and Membership Drive \nOutdoor Guest Performance by Chris Rybak \nDowntown – Free \nOn the first day of Spring\, Monday\, March 20\, 2017\, the Hallet Oak Gallery is hosting a 2017 Spring Chalk Art Celebration and Membership Drive inviting schools and families to chalk the parking space in front of Hallet Oak Gallery from 2 pm to 6 pm. Chris Rybak will provide an outdoor guest performance with polka/country live music. Refreshments will be served inside the Gallery. Admission is free and open to the public. \n“We are excited about this event and need the schools to contact the Gallery\, so we know how much chalk and refreshments to provide. Chris Rybak fans can sign-up for a “flash dance” performance on the street\, which will include the “Country Line Dance\, Chicken Dance” and the “The Wave”\, says Aaron Riske\, Hallet Oak Foundation Assistant Treasurer. \nThe faded yellow driveway space in front of the Gallery\, located in the famed Kahn & Stanzel building\, will be transformed into a pastel colored pathway. Elementary\, middle\, and High School students\, as well as families and professional artists are invited to join together to create a temporary masterpiece. \n“Starting the month of March\, all art in the Gallery will be 10 percent off\, with an additional 15 percent off for members\, making the sale 25 percent off all artworks through the end of the month. Since we are non-profit\, our motivation is different; for example\, we are here to support the artist and serve the community. See www.halletoakgallery.com and www.halletoakfoundation.com to learn more about the mission of the non-profit.

Please join us in thanking her for working with TCA for this event door fee to be free. \nHost Hallet Oak Gallery will welcome Shelly King\, Singer\, Songwriter\, Blues\, Rock and Folk music to the stage on Monday evening\, March 13\, 2017. Shelly is a successful solo artist and a leader of a formidable band of Austin’s finest musicians. Her blend of original blues\, rock\, folk\, country\, soul\, and gospel led her to be the first woman appointed to by the Texas Legislature to represent Texas. “Building a Fire”\, her most recent CD has affirmed King’s place as master of her own style of Americana blues. Music Night at the HOG is 7 PM -9 PM on the second Monday of each month. Doors open at 6:30 PM.  BYOB. Light appetizers provided. To learn more\, visit halletoakgallery.com \nMore about Shelly King:\nShelley King is a musical ambassador of the Austin\, Texas sound. For the past twenty years King has built a solid national career as a singer and songwriter who is both a successful solo artist and leader of a formidable band of Austin’s finest musicians. Her blend of original blues\, rock\, folk\, country\, soul and gospel led her to be the first woman appointed by the Texas Legislature to represent the state as it’s Official Texas State Artist – Musician; an honor similar to poet laureate. On stage she leads her band through tangents of electric Southern blues and acoustic folk\, revved-up Cajun country and rock and roll with a charismatic ease that evidences the resilience of a lifelong performer. She has won Austin Music Awards for Song of the Year and Best Roots Rock Band and released seven albums of original music to rave reviews and radio chart success. Shelley tours relentlessly\, performing over 180 dates a year at venues from coffee shops and house concerts to big theaters and major festivals across the world. Her songs have been recorded by numerous national and international artists and appeared in feature films. \n“Building a Fire”\, her most recent CD and the second recorded with members of New Orleans favorite sons\, the subdudes\, has affirmed King’s place as master of her own style of Americana blues. The Austin Chronicle says “Building a Fire assembles an audio dictionary of roots music. King’s powerful\, twanged alto takes care of the rest. The kickoff cut blends Louisiana zydeco with blues sensibility\, the singer’s no-holds-barred vocal mastery front and center… “Building a Fire” is filled with sinewy soul and King’s trademark brand of torrid gospel and blues\, it’s her most confident work yet. One where the songs\, band\, and singer sound comfortable together\, each filled with the kind of grace that’s scarce and delivers salvation.” \n\n\n\n\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n More\n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)\n Tumblr\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print
