Sspotlight on the Arts:

featuring Contemporary Watercolor Artist, Eric Dyer

EXHIBIT AT HALLET OAK GALLERY through the end of January

Free and Open to the Public

The Hallet Oak Gallery downtown Hallettsville, will feature Eric Dyer, a graduate of University of North Texas, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Painting, and California College of the Arts, Master of Fine Arts, Studio Practice in 2013, for Spotlight on the Arts, on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Working with watercolor, Eric Dyer’s artistic paintings are characterized by his ability to slow down and capture a moment in time. His focus is to inspire us to take another look at the things we pass by. Dyer’s creative inspiration comes from Kurt Vonnegut, Rory Ferreira, Michael David Larsen, Danielle Lam, Gala Sadurni, Bill Hicks, Oliver Hawk Holden, Andrew Masullo, Dr. Seuss, Don DeLillo, Ray Bradbury, and Doctor Who.

Dyer uses both color and lines to sketch what he sees. “My goal is to not create perfect imagery, yet to capture a moment a bit longer. Images give me the ability to express more than my words. For example my signature is drawing buildings as if they were breathing. Buildings, are not living creatures, but are an accumulation of what happens inside them. In other words, it’s the people that give them purpose and importance.” Some of Dyer’s favorite subjects are historical buildings and the perfect spot for drawing is downtown Hallettsville.

The Hallet Oak Gallery is located in the historic 1890 Kahn & Stanzel Bldg., 115 N. Main St. on the Lavaca County Courthouse Square Hallettsville. Hallet Oak Gallery, a non-profit fine art, performance, and learning center. The Gallery seeks to enhance art appreciation for youths and senior citizens by showcasing emerging and established talents and flavors of this region including artist from around the world. The Gallery is open six days a week and is free to the public during its regular open hours. Some events have nominal fees. Membership is not required to attend events.
