BOB BARRERA, ACRYLIC ARTIST

Versatile painter Bob Barrera is the Hallet Oak Gallery’s Spotlight on the Arts artist for May. Barrera draws on his work in the oil industry as well as many other inspirations for his colorful acrylic images. He does custom design on gun stocks, builds and paints rustic bars and other furniture, and creates yard art. In December 2015 he painted the beautiful signs depicting Christkindlmarkt for the Hallet Oak Gallery.

Barrera is much loved as the instructor for Strokes with a Sip, an ongoing class at the gallery. Students bring their own drinks and follow his lead creating paintings to take home, but he says that painting is “not really a skill that can be learned…You can be taught to perfect your style but painting and creativity have to be in you.” If Barrera’s Strokes with a Sip is any indication, patrons of the Spotlight exhibit will be an enjoyable time!
