Hallet Oak Gallery will host a book signing on Saturday, June 1, 2019, for Breaking the GAS Ceiling: Women in the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry, by San Antonio author Rebecca Ponton. The book features profiles of 23 women, many of whom have achieved “firsts” in their fields and have made significant contributions to the offshore oil and gas industry. Interviewees include all five women who have been inducted into the Offshore Energy Center Hall of Fame in Houston, Texas, as well as Mieko Mahi, freelance petroleum photographer/videographer, who is also Executive Director of Hallet Oak Gallery, and former Schulenburg resident, ocean engineering major Alyssa Michalke, the first female Commander of the Texas A & M Corps of Cadets. The book signing will take place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Hallet Oak Gallery, Kahn & Stanzel Bldg., 115 N. Main St., Hallettsville. Admission is free.
