MUSIC NIGHT AT THE HOG
JD Wellfed & Guests: Joe Kirkpatrick and Michael Stroup–Original American Songs

Popular South Central Texas singer and songwriter JD Wellfed (John Reeves) of Sweet Home will lead the third in a series of musical evenings Monday night at the Hallet Oak Gallery. Featured guests are Joe Kirkpatrick and Michael Stroup. Known locally for their Americana music, Kirkpatrick and Stroup are big city favorites. The trio will perform original songs and tell the stories behind them. They will welcome questions and share insights about their music.

Joe Kirkpatrick plays lead guitar and sings. Michael Stroup’s love for traditional American music began early, learning guitar as he watched two uncles play. Specializing in folk, bluegrass, and class country music, Stroup now incorporates western swing and old cowboy music in his repertoire.

JD Wellfed began writing poems in junior high and songs in his early twenties. “Anything and everything” inspires his music, which draws on folk, bluegrass, and a plethora of other influences. JD founded the Sweet Home Music Fest, which gave artists a platform for original music while raising funds for several community causes.

Music Night at the HOG is held every 2nd Monday of the month. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Bring your own drinks. Ice and cups provided. Checks and cash accepted for $10 door fee.
