Each year one hundred ornaments are donated by Hallet Oak Foundation to each participating school. Instructions are to be creative. The design can express feelings of the season change or something important to the student.
The exhibit date starts at Festival of Lights which kick starts the Christkindlmarkt, Downtown Hallettsville free celebration of live music and continues through a week before Christmas. Ornaments are returned to school in time to be taken home for Christmas. The live Christmas trees are then donated at the end of the exhibit.
2018 Art Tree awards were generously donated by Dairy Queen, Hair on the Square, Sonic Drive-In, Splashway Waterpark & Campground, and Tractor Supply. Blanche and Roy Cavarretta, renowned artists, judged three hundred art tree ornaments and below are the winners:
